Abstract

The orthodontist is little trained in arch form analysis and often has great difficulty in integrating it dynamically in treatment.

The need to individualise arch form memory at the end of treatment appears to be clear, but the requirement for such individualisation requires powerful calculation aids.

The use of micro-computers, micro-electronics and micro-mechanics has permitted theoretical analysis to become reality in treatment.

Individualised braces, made with the assistance of computers, in nickle-titanium alloys are now available to orthodontists anxious to preserve the individuality of their patients.
