Résumé

Parce qu'elle repose sur l'utilisation d'un arc continu, la technique de l'arc droit semble critiquable, du point de vue de l'analyse mécanique, lors de la phase initiale des traitements (celle des grands déplacements).

Par contre, lorsqu'il s'agit de donner aux dents l'orientation et la position voulue, les attaches propres à la technique ne présentent que des avantages. Il en est de même pour la phase de finition, encore qu'une finition parfaite ne puisse être obtenue sans recours aux pinces, ou à des appareils amovibles ("tooth positioner").

Abstract

Continuous arches can be often criticized on a mechanical point of view, particularly during extended displacements of teeth, at the first stage of treatment.

On the other hand, the specific straight wire attachments offer many advantages for placing the teeth in their best position, angulation and relationship. The same argument can be evoqued for the finishing steps, by the end of treatment. However, in the author's opinion, a satisfying result cannot be reached without a minimal use of pliers and/or removable appliances (positioner).
