Normes orthodontiques et canons artistiques : étude comparative

Résumé

L'analyse des téléradiographies et des clichés photographiques préthérapeutiques du profil facial sur un échantillon de 40 jeunes adultes caucasiens (partagés également en 20 sujets féminins et 20 sujets masculins), au sein d'une population présentant une Classe I d'ANGLE, a fait ressortir une concordance significative entre les standards orthodontiques et les standards artistiques. Les sujets s'inscrivant dans les normes céphalométriques correspondaient invariablement à l'idéal artistique. Cependant, certains profils conformes à l'idéal artistique s'écartaient de la norme orthodontique.

L'incorporation de certaines normes artistiques dans l'analyse orthodontique n'ouvrirait-elle pas de nouvelles perspectives dans l'établissement d'études standardisées ?

Abstract

The analysis of cephalometric radiographs and photographs of the facial profile before treatment of 40 young caucasian adults (20 females and 20 males) among an ANGLE Class I population brought out a significant concordance between the orthodontic and artistic standards. The individuals who have normal cephalometric data correspond invariably to the artistic ideal. Nevertheless certain profiles consonant with the artistic ideal diverge from the orthodontic norms.

Wouldn't the incorporation of certain artistic norms in the orthodontic analysis open new prospects in the working out of standardised studies ?
