Résumé

Les sutures sont des sites adaptatifs secondaires de croissance. Dès lors, leur stimulation mécanique permet de résoudre les malformations squelettiques pendant la phase active de croissance. L'expansion de la suture intermaxillaire conduit à la résolution des endognathies maxillaires, et donc des problèmes d'encombrements dentaires ultérieurs.

Elle peut se faire par différents appareils, mais se réalisera d'autant plus aisément, de manière plus stable et au moyen d'appareils plus simples, si elle est résolue précocement.

Abstract

Sutures are secondary adaptative sites of growth. Therefore, the stimulation of the sutures can resolve skelettal discrepancies during the active period of growth.

The expansion of intermaxillary can resolve a lateral hypodevelopment of the maxilla, and then a tooth - size/arch - size discrepancy. Several appliancies can be used but it will be more stable, more easily achieved, with simpler systems, if done at the early stage of growth (six to nine years of age).
