Résumé

La conception d’une attache orthodontique linguale nécessite une prise en compte aiguë des données de la mécanique comme la friction, le jeu, l’élasticité des métaux…, du confort du patient, de sa facilité d’utilisation… L’Edgewise est encore aujourd’hui le principe le mieux adapté au contrôle tridimensionnel du déplacement dentaire. En revanche, aux particularités de l’orthodontie linguale, nous avons adapté le mode d’insertion de l’arc en combinant astucieusement les insertions verticales et horizontales tout en conservant le principe fondamental de l’Edgewise. La combinaison des modes d’insertion augmente le contrôle ainsi que le confort du praticien et du patient. Le bracket Magic^® répond aux aspirations des patients dont l’élocution n’est que peu perturbée. Un arc de taille maximale 0.5 x 0.5 mm correspond à un choix de forces faibles dans les phases de nivellement alignement (.012” Niti) mais aussi dans la capacité d’arc plus lourd à engendrer des forces réactionnelles nécessaires et suffisantes au contrôle, pendant les phases de travail (.020 x .020” en acier). Nous développons dans cet article les justifications de notre démarche.

Abstract

The creation of a lingual orthodontic bracket requires careful attention to the particulars of mechanics, such as friction, play, elasticity of the metals…, the comfort of the patient, the ease of use… Edgewise is still today the best adapted principle to the tridimensional control of tooth movement. On the other hand, we have adapted the arch-insertion method to the particularities of lingual orthodontics by cleverly combining the vertical and horizontal insertions, while conserving the fundamental principle of Edgewise. The combination of these methods of insertion increases control, as well as the comfort of the practitioner and of the patient. The Magic^® bracket meets the expectations of the patients whose speech is hardly disturbed. An arch of a maximum size of 0.5 x 0.5 mm corresponds to a choice of weak forces in the levelling and aligning phases (.012” Niti), but also in the capacity of a heavier arch to generate reactional forces that are necessary and sufficient for control during the work phases (.020 x .020” SS). In this article, we develop the justifications for our approach.
