Résumé

La distraction osseuse est une technique ancienne utilisée avec succès dans le traitement des malformations cranio-faciales. Les indications de cette technique se sont élargies, notamment au traitement de l’endognathie maxillaire chez l’adulte. Plus récemment, la distraction symphysaire est proposée comme traitement de l’insuffisance transversale mandibulaire associée à un encombrement antérieur important. En préambule, les principes de l’ostéodistraction et les étapes cliniques de la distraction symphysaire sont rappelés. Puis la présentation d’un cas clinique illustre l’intérêt de cette technique.

Abstract

Distraction osteogenesis is a technique that has long been used successfully for the treatment of major craniofacial malformations. Its indications have been extended, particularly for the treatment of transverse maxillary insufficiency in adults. More recently, symphyseal distraction has been proposed as a treatment for transverse mandibular insufficiency associated with severe anterior crowding. In a preamble, the principles of distraction and the clinical stages of symphyseal distraction are outlined. Then the presentation of a clinical case illustrates the interest of this technique.
