Croissance faciale : théories explicatives et clinique orthodontique

Résumé
Les théories explicatives de la croissance faciale ont toujours servi de support fondamental aux courants thérapeutiques en orthodontie. On peut ainsi dégager un courant génétique, un courant fonctionnel et un courant synthétique. Ce dernier est le plus intéressant et permet aux cliniciens de communiquer. Les développements actuels des méthodes diagnostiques, pronostiques et thérapeutiques révèlent de nombreuses convergences qui témoignent du rapprochement des idées des cliniciens.
Abstract
Orthodontic technics have always been based on craniofacial growth theories. There are three main approaches : a genetic hypothesis, a functional hypothesis and a synthetic one. The least is probably, according to the author, the most interesting. Progress in diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutics reveal numerous convergences that display a harmonization of the different clinical options.
