Résumé

L'étude des déplacements de l'os hyoïde et des tissus mous cervico-mentonniers a été réalisée sur un échantillon de 19 patients ayant bénéficié d'un traitement orthodontico-chirurgical avec avancement mandibulaire.

La région labio-mentonnière se déplace vers le bas en même temps que vers l'avant. L'os hyoïde se déplace seulement en avant. Le creux cervical (point R) se déplace en avant, mais aussi fortement vers le bas. L'amélioration esthétique liée à l'avancement labio-mentonnier n'est pas complétée par une fermeture importante de l'angle cervico-mentonnier.

Abstract

The study of the shiftings of the hyoid bone and the cervicomental soft tissues has been operated on a sample of 19 patients who benefited from surgical-orthodontic treatment with mandibular advancement.

The mentolabial region shifts simultaneously downwards and forwards. The hyoid bone shifts forwards only. The cervical recess (point R) moves forward, but also considerably downward. The esthetic improvement linked to mentolabial advancement is not followed by an important closing of the cervicomental angle.
