Résumé

Le vieillissement du profil cutané d'un échantillon de 22 patients ayant bénéficié d'un traitement orthodontico-chirurgical d'une dysmorphie de classe III a été étudié et comparé au vieillissement sur 10 ans d'un échantillon de référence.

Les profils chirurgicaux vieillissent moins vite : la stabilité parfaite du menton, conséquence de la qualité de l'acte thérapeutique et probablement de la persistance d'un environnement neuromusculaire de classe III, les préserve du recul normal et constant avec l'âge, de l'ensemble du bas du visage ; le recul labial, bien que présent dans les cas chirurgicaux, est moindre.

Abstract

The ageing process of a sample of 22 patients who underwent surgical orthodontic treatment of a Class III dysmorphia has been compared to the ageing of a reference sample over a period of 10 years.

The surgical profiles are ageing less quickly : the perfect stability of the chin resulting from the quality of the therapy, and probably a persisting Class III neuromuscular environment, protect them from normal and constant regression consecutive to age, of the whole lower portion of the face ; labial regression, though present in surgical cases, is minor.
