Résumé

Suite à ses publications sur les différences morphologiques et dimensionnelles constatées au niveau des structures squelettiques de la tête entre des regroupements de téléradiographies d'adultes jeunes par rapport à des regroupements de téléradiographies d'adultes âgés, l'auteur s'est ici intéressé aux changements de position de l'os hyoïde par rapport aux structures voisines, d'abord entre le stade adulte jeune et le stade adulte âgé, resté denté, en position d'occlusion dentaire, ensuite entre le stade adulte âgé denté et le stade adulte édenté total, en position d'occlusion dentaire prothétique. Il s'avère qu'au cours de la première étape, l'os hyoïde s'affaisse légèrement en s'éloignant de la base du crâne, et qu'au cours de la seconde étape, cet os se déplace discrètement vers l'avant.

Abstract

Following publications concerning the morphological and dimensional differences observed on the skeletal head structures between the series of young adult cephalograms in relation to the series of elderly adult cephalograms, the author of this article is interested in the changing positions of the hyoid bone in relation to neighboring structures, first of all between the young adult stage and the elderly adult stage, who still have teeth, in dental occlusion, then between the stage of the elderly adult with teeth and the stage of the totally toothless adult, in prosthetic dental occlusion. It so happens that during the first phase, the hyoid bone shifts downwards slightly while moving away from the cranium base, and that during the second phase, the hyoid bone moves slightly forwards.
