Résumé

Le diagnostic et la correction des classes II subdivisions est enjeu majeur dans le quotidien des orthodontistes. Appréhender la dynamique mandibulaire est la clé pour comprendre l’orientation du plan d’occlusion et l’asymétrie masticatoire responsable de cette malocclusion. L’orthodontie systémique semble répondre à ces questions pour permettre une stabilité des traitements. Cependant, l’orthodontie seule est limitée dans l’approche des traitements de postures et des dysfonctions temporo-mandibulaires. La kinésithérapie maxillo-faciale aide l’orthodontiste dans une prise en charge pluridisciplinaire. Celle-ci potentialise nos prises en charge et participe grandement au bien être des patients pendant et après le traitement.

Abstract

The diagnosis and correction of Class II subdivision is a major issue in the daily life of orthodontists. Understanding the mandibular dynamics is the key to understanding the orientation of the occlusal plane and the masticatory asymmetry responsible for this malocclusion. Systemic orthodontics seems to answer these questions in order to allow stable treatment. However, orthodontics alone is limited in its approach to the treatment of postures and temporomandibular dysfunctions. Maxillofacial physiotherapy helps the orthodontist in a multidisciplinary approach. It potentiates our care and contributes greatly to the well being of the patients during and after the treatment.
