Résumé

La “différenciation” de l'oro-pharynx, puis la croissance, voire le travail mécanique excessif des parois de ce segment proprement humain du pharynx, modifient le comportement élastique de ses tissus mous selon une progression évolutive allant du “normal” au pathologique. L'oro-pharynx semble en effet subir un allongement axial continu, en rapport probable avec son “vieillissement”. Dans d'autres cas, cet allongement pourrait être la conséquence d'une obstruction nasale chronique.

Abstract

The oropharyngeal “differentiation”, then growth, and even mechanical overworking of that specifically human pharyngeal part, effect some changes in its soft tissue elasticity which follow certain specific stages from “normal” to pathological ones. There is a possible continuous oropharyngeal lengthening intimately connected with what can be looked on as a manifestation of its “ageing”. In others cases, that lengthening seems to be the consequence of upper airways obstruction.
