Les échecs relationnels en orthodontie
Relational failures in orthodontics
51, av. Henri Ginoux, 92120 Montrouge.
Abstract
When a patient asks his orthodontist to stop the therapy immediately, he expresses his desire to stop cooperating. How can the practitioner drive this behaviour to achieve the treatment?
Causes, being conscious or not, have to be analysed to determine the most appropriate behaviour to choose.
The author shows how conscious causes interfere, either at the beginning or during the treatment. These causes have to be distinguished from unconscious causes, attached to the concepts of "nocebo" and "negative transfer".
Number of recent studies have proved the benefit of the relationship between the practitioner and his patient and also the influence of psycho-physiological factors concerning the biological competence of the body. It is the author's objective to apply these results to our field.
